👣 Hike Description
We begin this rewarding hike in the historic riverside town of Henley-on-Thames, where the River Thames meets the rolling landscapes of the Chiltern Hills. Leaving the town behind, we follow sections of the historic Oxfordshire Way into a peaceful world of hidden valleys, ancient beech woodlands, and quiet countryside.

Our route passes through the grounds of Stonor Park, the magnificent family home of the Stonor family, who have lived here for more than 850 years. We then continue along the scenic Chiltern Way towards Warburg Nature Reserve, a remarkable wildlife sanctuary set high within the Chiltern Hills.

We will finish the hike back in the charming market town of Henley-on-Thames, celebrated for its historic streets, picturesque riverside setting, and the world-renowned Henley Royal Regatta, which has attracted visitors from around the world since 1839. Along the route, we will also pass the former home of George Harrison, one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century and a member of the legendary The Beatles.

🌟Highlights:

  • Henley is one of Oxfordshire's oldest settlements, famed for its 300 listed buildings and rich history, including Roman remains uncovered at Mill End.
  • Beautiful beech woodlands and hidden valleys
  • Panoramic views across the Oxfordshire landscape
  • Chance to spot soaring red kites
  • Pass the former home of George Harrison
  • Views towards historic Stonor Park
