🗣️ Join us for the second instalment of the Henderson Placemakers Activation Group — an ongoing series bringing locals together to explore ideas for making Henderson’s public spaces more vibrant, welcoming and connected.
This time, our theme is Active Modes in Henderson, and we’re taking the conversation out onto the streets!
What we'll be doing:
Meeting at 2:30pm, we’ll meet at Ōpanuku Studio before heading out in small groups to play the Placemaking Game — a playful, structured walk through Henderson that encourages us to slow down, observe our surroundings, compare perspectives and experience the town centre through fresh eyes.
Together, we’ll consider:
👉 Where is it easy and enjoyable to walk, wheel or cycle?
👉 Where do people naturally gather — and where do they simply pass through?
👉 What feels welcoming, safe and distinctly Henderson?
👉 Where could a small intervention make a big difference?
We’ll look at movement and accessibility, comfort and safety, activity, local identity and the moments of surprise and delight that make a place memorable.
At 4:30pm, we’ll return to Ōpanuku Studio for kai and a collaborative workshop, mapping what we discovered and identifying opportunities and ideas that could grow into future community-led placemaking projects. Gathering will conclude at 5:30pm.
Residents and ratepayers, creatives, students, businesses, community organisations and anyone interested in the future of Henderson are welcome.
