About this Event
Join us in Aberdeen for an interactive study day which brings together those who support bereaved men and boys to share their knowledge, challenges and expertise. There will be some input from Sean Humphreys from Child Bereavement UK giving an insight into how men grieve and why we might need to challenge our common misconceptions in order to offer the best possible support.
We will be joined by various speakers, sharing their experiences, including Laurie Dunsire, a bereaved parent and Ben Kane, a bereaved sibling. Graeme Young from PAPYRUS will share their work around suicide prevention and Shaan Malhotra, a Child Bereavement UK facilitator, discuss processing childhood bereavement in adulthood. Aim of the day
In this study day we seek to understand and raise awareness of the different ways that men and boys cope with bereavement. Bringing together those who work to support men and boys that face bereavement and providing you with the opportunity to share expertise, ask questions and discuss issues so that you are better enabled to offer support.
Target audience:
Suitable for any professional in Scotland who works with men, boys, and families who have faced bereavement.
The study day is supported by the Scottish Government and because of this funding, we are able to offer tickets at the heavily discounted price of £20.
Registration will be open from 9:15 and the welcome address will start at 10. We plan to finish at 4pm.
