About this Event
To mark National Mentoring Day, the Help to Grow: Management mentoring consortium is hosting an event in partnership with the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, CBI, and Small Business Charter to:
- Release a report 'Mentoring Matters' showing the impact of mentoring on the UK economy
- Present early insights from the mentoring relationships being formed as part of the Help to Grow: Management Course
- Share how you can get involved through becoming a mentor and/or supporting small businesses in your supply chain.
This event is being organised for:
- Individual entrepreneurs and advisers: who want to support HM government's Help to Grow: Management Course through becoming a voluntary mentor.
- Large corporates: who are interested in employees becoming voluntary mentors and/or sponsoring places on the Help to Grow: Management Course for businesses in your supply chain.
- Business support providers and industry bodies: interested in how mentoring is playing a critical role in supporting small businesses when they are faced with key challenges.
The event is free to attend and we look forward to welcoming you with agenda as follows.

10.00am: Welcome and introduction - Emma Jones CBE, founder, Enterprise Nation
10.15am: Why the CBI is backing Help to Grow as good for all business; large and small
10.25am: Why Mentoring Matters: panel session chaired by Michael Hayman MBE DL, co-founder of Seven Hills and Chair, Small Business Charter, with panellists:
- Chelsey Baker, founder, National Mentoring Day
- Mike Spicer, founder of PolicyDepartment and author of Mentoring Matters report
- Anne Kiem OBE, chief executive, Chartered Association of Business Schools
10.50am: Simon Fordham, chair and chief executive, Association of Business Mentors
10.55am: Meet the Mentors! A panel of mentors share why they are giving their time as volunteer mentors and how they are supporting participant businesses.
