Saturday, June 1st, is National Trails Day, a great day to volunteer and help make Kanawha State Forest an even better place to visit.
Plans are to prepare a space for a pollinator garden by removing invasive plants such as multiflora rose, Asiatic bittersweet and Japanese honeysuckle from a field across the road from the KSF Archery Range.
To get to the KSF Archery Range, drive past the main headquarters' parking lot and look for a dirt lot on your right. (If you get to the Spotted Salamander Trail parking lot, you've gone too far).
We'll wrap with a light lunch of hotdogs, chips and drinks, then you can join a guided hike, or head out on a trail of your choice and enjoy the rest of the day in the forest.
Long pants are recommended.
