Hella Juneteenth Festival — A Celebration of Black Culture in Oakland

What started in 2020 as a grassroots campaign advocating for Juneteenth to be recognized as a paid holiday has grown into a powerful gathering rooted in community, freedom, and joy.

Inside the festival:

• The Jubilee Stage: a lineup of exceptional DJs spinning R&B, hip-hop, Afrobeats, and cookout classics
• The Cookout: a curated selection of Black-owned food vendors serving flavors from across the diaspora
• The Green: a space to lounge, dance, connect, and take it all in
• Hella VIP: an elevated experience with dedicated spaces and curated offerings
• Hella Games: spades, dominoes, and classic lawn games
• Hella Kids: curated programming for kids to learn, play, and explore

And many more surprises to come

This year, we continue that tradition with a curated selection of Black chefs and restaurants, bringing together flavors, stories, and community through food.

Food will be available for purchase on-site on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be no pre-sale Cookout Plate this year.

Tickets are released in phases, and early purchase is strongly encouraged as prices will increase.

Hella Juneteenth is an annual cultural celebration rooted in Oakland, centering Black culture through music, food, art, and community programming.

Founded in 2020 as a viral advocacy campaign, it has grown into one of the Bay Area’s largest Juneteenth gatherings — welcoming more than 4,000 attendees in 2025.

Hella Juneteenth is produced by Hella Creative, a collective supporting Black cultural production and creative infrastructure, led by Brian Watson, Miles Dotson, Selena Davant, and Ryan Royster.
