Heintooga-Round Bottom RoadWe will meet at the IGA in Townsend 7945 E Lamar Alexander Pkwy, Townsend, TN 37882 at 8:30am and be ready to leave at 9:00am to caravan to the Sugarland's Visitor's Center. For anyone who would like to meet up at Sugarland's Visitor's Center, we will be there at 10am and hitting the pavement at 10:30am. Once we reach the end of Heintooga Ridge Rd we will stop and picnic at the scenic Mile High Overlook at the Heintooga Picnic area which is the highest elevation picnic area in the Smoky's at about 5,200 ft. We will then venture on to Balsam Mtn Rd which is a rugged and remote 14 mile, mostly one way gravel road that weaves it's way down to into Cherokee North Carolina. The road offers views of pristine forest, wildflowers, wildlife, and creeks. You'll drive through and along side often untraveled areas of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Join us in exploring Heintooga and the Great Smoky Mountains!! The ride will end when we enter Cherokee on Big Cove Rd.
