More about these books and authors:

Heidi Bell has worked as an editor and writer since 2002. Her book reviews have appeared in several publications and her short story: "Signs of the Imminent Apocalypse" won the Bentley Prize for Fiction from the Seattle Review.

About SIGNS OF THE IMMIENENT APOCALYPSE:

Two sisters play an unsettling game; a child witnesses a casually violent neighborhood ritual; an up-and-coming young professional is disturbed by the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings; a woman's ideal life unfolds in the pages of a mail-order catalog. The Midwestern men and women, girls and boys who populate Signs of the Imminent Apocalypse and Other Stories are united by a yearning-for answers or simply for relief-that is often twisted by their baser impulses. With lyricism, humor both dark and playful, and brutal clarity, Heidi Bell approaches reality sideways in her sensational debut collection.

Bonnie Jo Campbell is the author of six works of fiction, including American Salvage, finalist for the National Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award, and Once Upon a River, a national bestseller. The recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, AWP’s Grace Paley Prize for Short Fiction, and a Pushcart Prize, she lives outside Kalamazoo, Michigan, Her most recently acclaimed novel is THE WATERS.
