- The Wave Pictures -
“Their appeal is not hard to understand. They play charming, witty pop songs” – The Guardian
“There’s a reason the trio inspire devotion from the press and fans alike.” – DIY Mag
It’s over twenty years since The Wave Pictures formed in Wymeswold, Leicestershire as teenagers. The trio of Jonny Helm (drums), Dave Tattersall (guitar & vocals) and Franic Rozycki (bass) have gone on to be one of the UK’s most prolific and beloved bands. Fond of classic rock, jazz and blues, they are also one of the most accomplished, with Tattersall’s guitar solos becoming the stuff of legend. They have collaborated with varying bright stars of the musical firmament, from their ongoing partnership with ex-Herman Dune member Stanley Brinks, or the very close partnership with Billy Childish for 2015’s ‘Great Big Flamingo Burning Moon’.
The band have released 11 albums and played some of the most treasured festival stages around, including Primavera Sound, Green Man and End of the Road.
The trio now come to Oxford to perform "Gained / Lost” which will be released on 27th February 2026 via Bella Union.
+ Turner Cody (USA)
Turner Cody arrived at the Sidewalk Cafe in New York City in the fall of 1999.
There he cut his songwriting teeth alongside other members of the Anti-Folk scene including Adam Green and Jeffrey Lewis.
New York was a different place at the end of the 20th century.
The fertile mix which had so inspired artists in the 70s and 80s had not yet disappeared. It could still be felt in the open mics in the East Village and in the avant-garde performance clubs around the corner. The Rock n’ Roll scene from which bands like The Strokes would soon emerge was in full swing in the bars of the Lower East Side, its leather-clad acolytes drinking and carousing deep into the night.
