2026 could well be a defining moment for the man who was voted Rhythms Magazine Australian Artist of the year 2014 (also collecting Best Australian Album AND Best Australian Blues Album titles).
In the midst of an international tour and the pandemic insanity we all lived through, Michael Pollitt (aka Mr Black & Blues), pulled together an incredible all-star band to bring the world HEAVY MEDICINE.This original Blues Rock trio is fronted by Michael who handles vocal, guitar and production duties, and also features a powerhouse bass, drums rhythm section.Michael he packs a mean punch of psychedelic voodoo blues, and rock’n’roll soul. He knows his way around a slide, and isn't afraid to conjour a little lyrical voodoo mysticism. The ‘Motown meets 52nd Street’ bass grooves bring the ‘deep pocket’ back to rock with wild abandon that walks the line between reckless and incendiary.Recorded over eight days immediately following the bands first festival appearance at Blues at The Briars, the band moved into Mark Opitz’s OneMusic Asia studio and blasted out fourteen new original songs and two reinterpretations all penned by Michael.
After making waves at numerous Australian festivals, HEAVY MEDICINE is a psychedelic voodoo blues rock affair. New record "Love is. Music Is. We Are.." launches at Cherry Bar May 30th 2026 on Breakneck Records with very special guests, and with an international tour covering Australia and Europe to follow.
