About this Event
Do you love striking architecture, Brutalist buildings, and Zurich’s legendary urban nature?
Does your heart beat for contemporary art, Brutalist-inspired architecture and parks? Then this relaxed walk from the Kunsthaus extension to the lakeside promenade with writer, artist and Heartbreat head Karin Bürki (@heartbrut_official) is for you.
Your walk begins with a tour of the new Kunsthaus extension by David Chipperfield and its striking public entrance hall. Next up is the neighbouring Rämibühl Cantonal School and Park (1970), which was strongly inspired by Alvar Aalto and Scandinavian modernism.
After a stroll along the iconic Calatrava gallery (1990), modelled on a bull's rib cage above Stadelhofen station, we take a short tram ride to Seefeld district and visit the Le Corbusier Pavilion (1967) - the last building the überdaddy of Brutalism realised in his lifetime.
After a short walk along the lakeside promenade, we finish our tour with a visit to Henry Moore’s emblematic, sheep-inspired bronze sculpture (1971), a spaceship-like pyramid and an equally stunning Brutalist beauty from the same era.
