About this Event

“He wants to make friends. He just doesn’t know how.”

Perhaps your child watches other children play but struggles to join in. Or they eagerly join, only to become upset when someone changes the rules, says “no”, or wants to play differently.

These everyday moments take social and emotional skills-and opportunities to practise them.

A small group for growing everyday skills

Heart + Mind Heroes Club is Ambrave’s Social & Emotional Learning programme. Through interactive stories, games, role-play and shared challenges, children practise connecting with others and handling the feelings that come with being part of a group.

Our 90-minute sessions bring together 3–5 children, with guided support and opportunities to try again.

What will your child practise?

• Making friends: Joining play, starting conversations and taking turns.
• Managing big feelings: Recognising emotions, expressing needs and finding ways to calm down.
• Thinking flexibly: Trying another person’s idea and coping when things do not go as planned.
• Noticing social cues: Paying attention to facial expressions, tone of voice and personal space, and checking when unsure.
• Speaking up kindly: Asking for help, setting boundaries and working through disagreements.
• Winning and losing: Handling disappointment and celebrating without putting others down.

More than talking about what to do

Children get to practise these skills as situations arise during play. A disagreement over a game, a turn that requires waiting, or a teammate’s different idea becomes an opportunity for supported learning.

Each session explores a theme, with activities adapted to the group’s needs.

Try a class

A trial class offers a chance to experience the group and discuss whether the programme is a suitable next step for your child.
