About this Event
Join us to celebrate the contributions of women to the world of music. Our audience will hear the voices of women composers through their melodies, harmonies, and rhythms. Also our recital includes art songs based on lyrics by female poets, past and present. The
program will feature a selection of works by Fanny Mendelssohn, Clara Schumann, Cécile Chaminade, Pauline Viardot, Vítězslava Kaprálová, Amy Marcy Beach, and Bohdana Frolyak.

About Mia HyeYeon Kim
Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, Mia HyeYeon Kim began her piano studies at age seven. Her accomplishments include prizes in the Frances Walton Competition, the Metropolitan International Piano Competition, the Texas State International Piano Competition, the Memphis International Piano Competition, the Universal Music Competition, and the Seoul Philharmonic Competition. In spring 2024, she performed George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the UW Wind Ensemble, conducted by Timothy Salzman, in Seattle and Daejeon, South Korea. In 2023, she performed with the Texas Central Philharmonic Orchestra under Stefan Sanders as a winner of the Texas State International Piano Concerto Competition. In 2022, she won the University of Washington’s concerto competition and performed Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the UW Symphony Orchestra under David Rahbee. As a dedicated chamber musician, Kim has performed extensively with both vocalists and instrumentalists in programs ranging from Baroque to modern music. Mia HyeYeon Kim is a professional performance member of the Ladies Musical Club of Seattle, the PNW Kobzar Project, and the Georgia Musicale Group. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at the University of Washington under Craig Sheppard, holding ABD status.

About Rosie Jeongwon Kim
Born in Seoul, South Korea, Rosie Jeongwon Kim studied at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and Carnegie Mellon University. Rosie has performed with Owensboro Symphony, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Portland Columbia Symphony,

About Ksenia Popova
Ksenia Popova has been hailed by The News Tribune as “a soprano to watch.” Ms. Popova has sung the roles of Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Juliette (Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette), Micaela (Carmen), Polly Peachum (The Threepenny Opera), Josephine (H.M.S Pinafore)with Tacoma Opera, Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and Gretel (Hansel and Gretel) with Pacific Northwest Opera, Josephine (H.M.S Pinafore) with Opera Coeur d’Alene, and Juliette (Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette), Gilda (Rigoletto), Adele (Die Fledermaus) with Vashon Opera. She has participated in community performances for Seattle Opera and Portland Opera. In concert, Ms. Popova appeared as the Soprano Soloist in Carmina Burana with the Greater Seattle Choral Consortium and Sammamish Symphony Orchestra. She is a Metropolitan Opera National Council Third Place Regional winner and has received several Audience Favorite and Encouragement Awards. Ms. Popova also serves as the founder and executive director of Opera On Tap Seattle.
