Healthy Pond Series
About this Event
Clemson Extension, S.C. Sea Grant Consortium, and North Inlet–Winyah Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve invite HOA/POA representatives, pond owners, pond managers, and community members to expand their knowledge of stormwater pond best management practices.
During the first Healthy Pond Series event of 2026, participants learned about stormwater pond ecology and water quality from Dr. Erik Smith. In this second installment, we will build on the recommendations presented by Dr. Smith and explore the role of vegetated shoreline buffers in maintaining healthy ponds.
Clemson Extension's Water Resources Agent, Samantha Porzelt, will discuss the benefits of shoreline vegetation, recommended plant species for stormwater ponds, and considerations for sourcing and establishing these plants. The program will conclude with an open question-and-answer session and opportunities to network with local municipal stormwater professionals and environmental education organizations.
