A slow flowing, comprehensive yoga practice that explores the hip joint.
Whether you are an athlete, sit all day for work, or somewhere in between this class is designed to address all your different needs - from tight adductors (inner thigh muscles) to tight glutes (your butt!). Not only will we explore poses that can increase flexibility, we will practice transitions and movements that specifically help to improve mobility.
Too often in the yoga world, extremely open hips are envied and coveted.
The reality is hips are meant to stabilize other areas of the body and in order for them to be healthy they need to be balanced - not just loosey goosey. Flexibility and range of motion are important, but so is the ability to move through those ranges in a controlled manner. This requires stability and strength.
This hip focused class will be a slow flowing practice that allows extra time for a deeper exploration. We will wind down the class with a long, calming floor practice. As always, options and variations will be offered throughout the class so all levels of experience are welcome.
