About this Event
The Word is Out:
A diet rich in whole plant foods delivers numerous health benefits while dramatically reducing one's environmental footprint. From weight management to preventing, treating, and even reversing many chronic diseases, a diet filled with whole plant foods has been proven to promote better health outcomes. Despite this knowing this, many people struggle to shift away from health-damaging eating habits and shift to more health-promoting plant-based foods.
When the evidence is so clear and the benefits so plentiful, why's it so hard to shift to healthier eating?
At this lively no-judgment talk, you'll learn what makes it more challenging to shift and maintain healthier eating habits.
- How our own wiring works against us
- What social pressures keep us stuck eating less healthy foods
- How our toxic "hyperpalatable" food environment impacts choices
Most importantly, you'll learn concrete steps you can take to overcome these challenges, start eating better, and fuel a better you.
Let's Eat Together!
We will start our time together with a whole food, plant-based potluck. Please bring a dish to share that is made exclusively from whole plant ingredients and is free of added oil. Please avoid bringing dishes containing meat, dairy, fish, eggs, or other animal-derived ingredients.
Here are some recipe sites for inspiration:
- Forks Over Knives Recipe Collection (Please note that Forks Over Knives now includes some recipes with oil in their collection. Avoid these recipes or leave out the oil.)
- Monkey and Me Recipes
- Center for Nutrition Studies Recipes
If you are new to this way of eating, feel free to bring something simple like a fresh fruit platter or green salad.
