Exciting news from CHS Dean Scott Lephart this morning:
We are thrilled to invite you to take part in a once-in-a-generation moment in the history of our College and campus community.
As we prepare to “top off” the Michael D. Rankin MD Health Education Building, you are invited to sign the ceremonial beam that will be placed during our official Topping Out Ceremony on Aug. 28. This is your chance to leave a lasting mark — literally — on a building that will shape the future of health sciences education here at UK.
Sign the Building Beam
Ensure your name becomes part of this historic milestone. Faculty, staff, learners, alumni, donors and friends of the College are encouraged to participate. We will all walk over together during one of these designated times.
Designated CHS Signing Times:
• Wednesday, Aug. 13, 10-11 a.m.

• Thursday, Aug. 21, 10-11 a.m.

• We will try to make other times available for those with scheduling conflicts.
Location:
Avenue of Trees, near the corner of Huguelet and University Drives
(The beam is behind University Flats in a secure area — this is the only access point.)
Parking:
William T. Young Library visitor lot (accessible via Hilltop Avenue)
What to Bring:
Just bring yourselves. We will bring large, wide chisel-tip or king-size black Sharpies for you to sign with. And keep in mind — the beam will be in two pieces to better allow everyone to sign.
Capture the Moment:
We realize the gravity of the moment. Our construction is continuing to progress. Walls are up, and the vision is taking shape. We encourage you to take photos and videos during your visit. Then, please share any media with our CHS communications team. This content will be collected and used to commemorate the incredible milestone.
This new building honors Dr. Rankin’s legacy while launching the next era of healthcare education. I hope each of you will take a moment to be a part of this powerful tradition.
