About this Event
As caring people in helping professions, we have given so much of ourselves that we often do not realize that our own energies have become out of balance and that we ourselves are in need of support and renewal. This emotional fatigue can affect our bodies, our health, and our energies, as well as our personal happiness and relationships.
The day will be an integration of the Internal Family Systems model (IFS), or “Parts Work” with various forms of meditation and guided imagery. This integrative model will be used to offer those engaged in helping others an opportunity to care for themselves; to identify potential sources of their burnout as well as ways to tap into sources of renewal. The IFS process helps us to open the inner space through work with our parts, and this allows the heart to awaken.
We’re excited to be hosting Tom & Lauri at our beloved Jesmond Dene Park, Newcastle Upon Tyne, in April 2023 where we can all benefit from their decades of learning and experience. This course has been designed to support all helping professionals including Therapists, Holistic Health Professionals, Coaches, and Individuals seeking Self Development.
The workshop leaders:
Our teachers for the day, Tom & Lauri Holmes, have integrated the understanding of the inner world as formulated in the “Parts Work” approach to therapy, with wisdom from spiritual traditions. After being trained by Dr. Richard Schwartz, who developed the IFS approach, Tom & Lauri published ‘Parts Work: An Illustrated Guide to your Inner Life’ in 2007, which has since sold over 75,000 copies worldwide.
Lauri Holmes, MSW, was the head of the counseling program for more than twenty years, where she trained and supervised her staff in the IFS approach, whilst assisting Tom in writing books and giving workshops for healing professionals.
Tom Holmes, PhD, is Professor Emeritus at Western Michigan University, specializing in the integration of spirituality and psychology. Tom has lectured on IFS and Parts work around the world, in places as far-flung as Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, and Korea. In the fall of 2016, he began training with Jordanian and Egyptian therapists who work with Syrian and Iraqi refugees.
This will be a Continued Professional Development Course we hope you won’t forget! Tea & Coffee will be available and can be enjoyed on the grounds of Newcastle's beloved and peaceful Jesmond Dene Park. This location has been chosen with intention, as Tom & Lauri agree it is the perfect environment to compliment the nature of this course. Please bring your own lunch and extra drinks.
