Our eighteenth free and inclusive Monday night community bike ride of 2021 brings us back to historic Hamlin Park, this time hosted by Em Tea Coffee Cup Cafe, which has held down the corner of Oakgrove and Hughes for more than two decades.

"I just always loved that big brick building, I fell in love with it was a kid," Kat said when we interviewed her back in May before stopping there on our Reconnecter Ride. "That was before they built the [Kensington] expressway; then they started the construction, it was crazy..."

Kat was referring to the destruction of Humboldt Parkway, still an open wound through the heart of our city; this ride will return the spotlight to the struggle still ongoing by residents including the Restore Our Community Coalition to stitch this wound by demanding that the New York State Department of Transportation put the park back in Humboldt Parkway.

Our 10-mile roundtrip route with stops on top of the horrible highway and at a new Albright-Knox art exhibit about this calamity will include Humboldt, Jefferson, Delavan, Utica, Fillmore and Ferry, returning to Em Tea Coffee for our Buffalocal afterparty with food, drinks, music and fellowship.

Thanks to Independent Health for continued support of Slow Roll Buffalo since 2015.
