Join us for a conversation with filmmaker and journalist KT Curran, parents, and youth. Learn how bullying has changed in the modern era and how schools are responding. Be a part of collective efforts to prevent bullying and to create safe spaces for healing.

KT Curran is an award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker with numerous internationally published films and plays that have inspired millions across the world. She is the Founder and Director of Wingspan Productions, a 501(c)3 nonprofit film company that creates powerful and innovative documentaries and feature films for social change.

Winner of Best Feature Film at Lady Filmmaker's Film Festival in Los Angeles, Best Feature Film at the Fort Myers Film Festival, Best Florida Film at the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival, Most Inspirational Film at the Orlando Film Festival, and the Audience Award for Best Feature at the Sarasota Film Festival. KT is the recipient of Sarasota

Magazine's 2020 Unity Award for creating initiatives that unify and unite the community and also the 2019 Women in Power Award by the National Council of Jewish Women. She has worked extensively as a playwright, educator, director, educational curriculum developer, and national consultant on vital social issues. KT is the creator of The Fentanyl Project, currently featured on WEDU\PBS nationwide and part of the Sarasota County Schools and Manatee County Schools health curriculum, and is currently working on Call It What It Is – a new documentary about bullying for Sarasota County Schools.

KT’s work has received national prominence and been featured on streaming platforms and film festivals throughout the US and in many countries across the world, as well as on television and the internet.

Megan Taylor has been with SCS since 2018, starting her career as a para-professional at Oak Park before transitioning into her current role as a Teacher Trainer with Student Services. Passionate about supporting student well-being, Megan is a certified Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor and Coordinator. She also serves as the Bullying Coordinator, dedicated to fostering a safe and supportive environment for all students. Megan’s commitment to education and mental health makes her a valuable asset to the SCS community.

Ella Collier is a senior in the AICE Program at Sarasota High School, where she serves as the Student Government President and Parliamentarian for the National Honor Society. A dedicated leader, Ella is actively involved in numerous extracurricular activities. She volunteers in several capacities at Teen Court including as an Attorney, Ambassador, and Chair of the Fundraising Committee for the Youth Leadership Team. She is also a member of the Varsity Speech and Debate Team, the Student Board Member for Children First, member of the 1-9 Female Leadership Club, and Vice President of Temple Sinai’s Youth Group for the past four years.

Ella is passionate about civic engagement, leadership, and supporting her community, and was honored to receive the Anne Frank Humanitarian Award. She has lobbied Congressional Staff in Washington, D.C., and studied abroad in Israel for a semester her sophomore year. Ella will be majoring in political science at the University of Florida and plans to attend Law School.
