Are you exhausted by the inner noise — the critic, the worrier, the part that shuts down, the one that can't stop?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) offers a radically compassionate framework for understanding why we do what we do — and a path toward genuine, lasting change.
WHAT IS IFS?
Developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, Internal Family Systems is an evidence-based therapeutic model that understands the mind as a family of inner "parts" — each with its own voice, history, and role. Rather than pathologizing our reactions, IFS teaches that all parts make sense, and that at the center of every person is a Self that is wise, calm, and never damaged.
IFS distinguishes three types of parts:
— Managers: proactive protectors — the inner critic, the perfectionist, the one who keeps everything running
— Firefighters: reactive parts that rush in when pain breaks through, often through numbing, distraction, or escape
— Exiles: younger, more vulnerable parts carrying old pain, shame, or the belief "I am not enough"
The work is building a relationship between these parts and the Self — so that your inner system moves from conflict to collaboration.
WHY A GROUP?
There is something that happens in group that individual therapy cannot replicate. When someone else names a part you recognize in yourself, something shifts. The group becomes a living mirror and belonging to a community of people doing the same honest inner work is, itself, therapeutic.
In this group you will:
— Learn the IFS model through teaching, guided practice, and reflection
— Begin to identify and work with your own parts
— Experience being witnessed and witness others in a confidential, contained setting
— Develop real-world skills to carry IFS into your daily life between sessions — Leave with a personal practice and a new relationship with your inner world
THE SIX WEEKS
Week 1 — Meeting Your Inner Family Introduction to the IFS map. First encounters with noticing your own parts.
Week 2 — Managers & Protectors Getting curious about the parts that keep everything running — and appreciating what they protect.
Week 3 — Firefighters & Urgent Parts Meeting the reactive parts with curiosity rather than shame or suppression.
Week 4 — Exiles & the Stories We Carry Gently approaching younger parts that hold pain — slowly, safely, led by the Self.
Week 5 — Self-Led Living Practicing what it feels like to move through relationships and daily life from the Self.
Week 6 — The Ongoing Work Integration, reflection, and building a personal IFS practice to sustain the work.
IS THIS GROUP RIGHT FOR YOU?
This group may be a good fit if you:
— Feel pulled in multiple directions and can't quiet the inner noise
— Struggle with self-criticism, perfectionism, or people-pleasing patterns
— Find yourself overwhelmed by emotions that feel bigger than the situation
— Are already in therapy and want something experiential and community-based
— Are in recovery and want to understand the parts driving old patterns
— Are simply curious about IFS and want to learn by experiencing it
This group is appropriate for adults who are currently stable and not in active crisis. It is a psychoeducational and experiential group, not individual therapy.
