Dr. Keith Dempsey, PHD, has been a leader in counseling and advocacy for over 20 years. As a therapist and clinical social worker in Portland, Oregon, he has dedicated his career to empowering individuals, couples, and families to reach their full potential through the transformative power of counseling.

A sought-after speaker and trainer, he has led national presentations on diversity, racial trauma, and the lived experiences of Black communities. He is the past President of the Western Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (WACES) and previously served as Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Counseling at George Fox University where he made history as the first African American to receive tenure. His contributions to the field have earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious American Association of Counseling Presidential Citation Award for outstanding community service and advocacy. Dr. Dempsey holds a master’s degree in counseling and a PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision from Oregon State University.
