LIVE ART INSTALLATION by Alvin Acoma
Alvin "Acoma" Colon was born in Bridgeport CT, raised in Boston MA. In 1992, at the early age of 11, Acoma found his calling as a graffiti artist when he was attending the Dr. Ma1tin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Dorchester, MA. Acoma became a member and one of the founders of the
"Young Graffiti Masters", a non profit art Organization directed by the late Teacher and Mentor Janaya Janey. Very early on into the Young Graffiti Master journey, he and his peers found their niche by creating murals and participating in community events. This continued throughout his adolescence.
Acoma's consistency in his artist career allowed him to explore many avenues in the world of Art and Community.
In 2006, Acoma opened his first art studio in Charlestown MA, the "Acoma Art Gallery", in Charlestown, MA, where he showcased his works of art and curated art shows for members of the artist community. The Acoma Art Gallery eventually gained attention that required a larger space to accommodate the high demand from all the genres in the creative fields. In 2011, Acoma Opened "Paris Street Gallery" in Everett, MA. Paris Street Gallery served as the home for a vast genre of expressive arts, music, dance, fashion and theatre. As Acoma worked diligently in maintaining his new art gallery afloat for the artist community, he also remained consistent as visual artist and muralist throughout Massachusetts.
Today, Acoma has retired the Paris Street Gallery and relocated his creative Space in 2018 to Norwood MA, where his focus is geared towards the increasing demand for large scale Mural Projects for a number of organizations and restaurants. His contributions to the artist community remains steadfast, and will continue for years to come.
