Dublin-based saxophonist and flautist Hayley Kavanagh has become a familiar presence on the city’s jazz scene since returning to Ireland in 2023 after several years abroad. She leads her own quartet, which performs frequently, including a recent appearance at this year’s Bray Jazz Festival.

A regular member of So-Young Yoon’s Master Album Series and The Genuine Jazz Orchestra, as well as an active collaborator across a range of other projects, Hayley has shared the stage with many of Ireland’s most respected improvising musicians including Dr Linley Hamilton, Cathal Roche, Derek Whyte, Michael Buckley, Aleka Pontinga, and Chris Guilfoyle. 

Beyond performance, Hayley is a strong advocate for the growth of the jazz community in Dublin. She co-runs the Arthur’s Jazz Jam, one of the city’s busiest and most consistent jazz nights, is co-founder of Cookin’ Dublin, an independent guide to local jazz events, co-produces In the Groove, a Jazz Ireland interview series, and sits on the board of the Dublin Jazz Co-op. 

The group will perform original compositions alongside arrangements of hard and post-bop repertoire, drawing from artists such as Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter and Cedar Walton.
