Hayes Valley Carnival

PROXY, the Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association, and the Hayes Valley Merchants Association are excited to bring back the infamous Hayes Valley Carnival on its 112th anniversary for a joyous, community-centered celebration.

The original 1911 Hayes Valley Carnival was a celebration and reminder of the vibrancy and tenacity of the city post the destruction of the 1906 earthquake and resulting fires. In much the same way, it is a recognition of the neighborhood after two years of the pandemic – reinvigorating residents, businesses, and the city at large with a celebration and bringing together of the community.

Get ready for a carnival extravaganza that will have you on the edge of your seat! Kids of all ages will be entertained with a wide variety of activities, including live music, food, and carnival games. The real highlight of the event will be two performances by Circus Bella and the Circus Bella All-Star Band at 1 pm and 3 pm.

Circus Bella is an open-air contemporary circus that uplifts diverse audiences and engages the community. Their newest production, Bananas!, will feature some of the most incredible circus talents from the Bay Area and beyond. Led by Abigail Munn, Circus Bella co-founder, and director, the show will surely delight and amaze audiences of all ages. And to add to the excitement, the Circus Bella All-Star Band will perform led by San Francisco’s beloved band leader, Rob Reich. With his incredible talent and passion for music, Rob Reich will lead a group of talented musicians to create a sensational and unforgettable experience for all.

Space is first come - first serve. Minimal audience seating on site will be provided, with turf up front for young children to be part of the action! Feel free to bring picnic blankets and small folding chairs.  Standing room will be available in Patricia’s Green and along Hayes Street and Octavia Boulevard.
