HAWS is holding a peaceful sidewalk rally in Downtown Calgary, to protest the Alberta Government, Rangeland Department's current plans to remove Alberta Mountain Horses from their natural environments in the Foothills of the Eastern Slopes, and also plans to dart 90 wild mares with a contraceptive that would prevent them from giving birth for the next 4-5 years or even permanently. By preventing 90 mare from giving birth to new foals, predators will compensate by attacking previously born foals and young wild horses. These measures combined with natural deaths, accidental deaths, and aged horses dying off, would most certainly lead to an Equine Genocide for the Alberta Mountain Horse. Before HAWS, ... the Governement began a Wild Horse Eradication plan by means of culling in 2013. HAWS prevented that from happening by holding a rally just like this in 2014. We must unite again.
