Having Notions: A Singles Night That Isn't One
You know the drill by now:
- The apps are soul-destroying.
- "Singles nights" made me want to hide in the jack.
- Speed dating feels like 20 job interviews.
So I built the night out that I actually wanted to go to.
Having Notions is a proper night out for single people. Small groups, a game on the table to give you something in common (nothing cringey, no icebreakers, it's not a game night), and hosts moving through the room all night making sure nobody's left on their own.
- No pitching yourself in ninety seconds
- No standing at the bar working out how to join in.
- No wondering if you're allowed to leave a boring conversation, we'll move you on before you have to say a word.
We keep the room balanced too, roughly half and half, so nobody's outnumbered.
You just show up. We handle the rest.
If there's a click, you won't need the awkward number swap. We find out if it's mutual, then we tell you. Just one "my mate fancies you." That's us. We're the mate.
I'm in the room every night myself, along with a couple of hosts who know the format inside out. This isn't a formula being run by a company, it's genuinely me trying to build the thing I wished existed.
40 tickets. One night. No pressure, except the tickets bit.
This one's aimed at the roughly 30 to 45 crowd. More nights for other ages are coming.
