Havana Highlife combines the sizzle of salsa with the harmonic richness of jazz. The quintet enlivens jazz classics with rhythm and presents originals that mix and match genres. The ensemble is led by saxophonist/flutist Doug Little. Little has studied in Cuba and Brazil, worked with major Latin artists such as Grammy winner Mayito Rivera, and performed in Asia, Europe, and throughout the United States.
Havana Highlife also features a collection of noted musicians including Cuban percussionist Damian Rodriguez, drummer Andrew Gillespie, pianist Joe Strachan, and bassist Graydon Peterson.
