About this Event

All aboard!

Step into Galveston's eerie past with the author of the book Ghosts of Galveston! Join us for a captivating walk along the historic Strand and through a famously haunted railyard, where shadows linger and forgotten voices whisper in the wind.

Discover chilling tales of Civil War spirits, lingering victims of the 1900 Storm, and even a murderess' restless prescence. Hear the stories of some of Galveston's most famous ghosts and uncoversecrets of those that refuse to leave this island paradise.

Don't miss this unforgettable journey into Galveston haunted history with the island's ghost authority.

Adult content not appropriate for children under the age of 13.

Our tour will include an exclusive visit to the Galveston Railyard to hear about the ghostly apparitions that dwell along the tracks

We'll be walking at a leisurely pace, taking time to see if you can capture photos of ghosts through windows and on the street like so many have before. But don't be surprised if someone unseen tugs on your sleeve, or you feel a chill in the air...it's just their way of saying "hello."

Your host is Kathleen Maca, the author of "Galveston's Broadway Cemeteries," "Ghosts of Galveston," "Ghostly Tales of Galveston," "A History of the Hotel Galvez" and "Galveston's Tremont House." A local historian and writer, she has spent over 45 years researching historic cemeteries and folklore.

Her tours are recommended by the Texas Historic Commission, Visit Galveston, Texas Highways, and Texas Monthly Magazine. She was named Galveston's Certified Tourism Ambasador of the Year for 2026.

We'll meet on the steps in front of the Shearn Moody Plaza Building (home of the Galveston Railroad Museum) at the intersection of 25th and Strand.

Please note:

Wear comfortable walking shoes, and be aware of curbs and uneven walking paths. The Strand is well lit, so flashlights aren't necessary but you are welcome to bring one if you like.

**Tour is wheelchair accessible.

No video or audio recording allowed during the tour. STILL PHOTOS ARE ENCOURAGED-you never know who or what you might capture!

Content not appropriate for small children.

Guide takes no responsibility for injuries incurred during tour. Guests will be required to sign a waiver before entering the railyard. There are limited restroom opportunities on The Strand, so it is encouraged to "take care of business" ahead of time.

Tour will be given rain or shine except in the case of a severe thunderstorm. Ticket fee is non-refundable.

Don't worry about printing your e-tickets - I'll have the guest roster with me.

A portion of ticket fee will be donated to support the Galveston Railroad Museum.
