*Hatsuwarai (初笑い) translates to the "first laugh of the year" in Japan, representing a traditional New Year custom aimed at bringing good luck and fortune. It signifies starting the year with joy, often through comedy performances, entertainment, or lighthearted activities to ensure happiness in the coming months.

We are very excited to Kick off January 2026 with a bonus Saturday comedy show in line with the Japanese tradition of *Hatsuwarai with a fantastic fun packed lineup of live comedy followed by singalong live music with optional club night too for post show dodgy dancing and drinks plus late bar in the friendly atmosphere of The Amersham Arms conveniently located opposite New Cross station. Sang Don Park is a South Korean, musical comedian who is now based in London. He has performed and headlined in Seoul, Melbourne, Sydney, and London as well. He discusses cultural and observational experiences that he went through whilst living in different cities abroad.

Kuan-wen Huang
