Harvest Your Creativity: CYA Legal Workshop

When crafting any media project, navigating digital rights usage can feel like the wild west and it can be hard to know where to start and how to ensure you are not vulnerable to any future legal actions or disputes.

There is a wealth of resources available to you within the creative commons to help elevate your productions with visuals, audio and more.

Get tips and tricks on how to add the public domain to your toolkit as well as crafting an array of releases to protect your project in perpetuity. Explore creative ways to approach productions when you do not have access to licensed items.

We will also explore multiplatform usage and how pre-production can save time, money and energy.

Heather Dalton has been a force in Denver media for 30 years. Most of her focus has been in public and civic media. She is a passionate advocate for local art, music and literature and preserving the rich and dynamic history of Denver.

A few notable projects would be as Director of the documentary, Neal Cassady the Denver Years, Executive Producer of Sounds on 29th, Street Level, Denver Sessions, and Mile High Mixtape. She has held almost every title from tape librarian, production assistant, editor, shooter, producer, director, and she has been grateful for each experience.

Currently, Heather is a Multiplatform Producer for the City and County of Denver, Channel 8. Dalton is passionate about storytelling in the heart of the mile-high city and is honored to share unique and impactful profiles of Queen City residents.
