Harvest Stories: A Community Retreat & Celebration of Collective Care
About this Event
Harvest Stories is the launch of a new community retreat series from The WildRoot Collective, created for good food, meaningful stories, shared learning, rest, laughter, and collective care.
Our inaugural gathering takes place during Black Philanthropy Month and Black August, honoring traditions of generosity, land stewardship, cultural memory, and community care across generations.
Spend the afternoon enjoying a seasonal shared meal, meeting local growers and neighbors, exploring community resources, and relaxing in a welcoming, family-friendly space. A centerpiece of the gathering will be a screening of Farming While Black, exploring the connections between land, food, cultural memory, self-determination, and the many ways communities invest in and care for one another across generations.
Expect:
• A seasonal meal featuring locally sourced ingredients
• A screening of Farming While Black
• Stories and conversation with growers and community members
• Family-friendly activities
• Community resources and local connections
• Plenty of time to eat, talk, explore, laugh, and relax
Harvest Stories is intentionally unhurried. Participate in as much or as little as you like. Come hungry, bring your curiosity, and spend a few hours enjoying good food, meaningful connection, and the simple pleasure of being together.
All are welcome.
