Harvest Blessings: Harvest Moon Circle
Advertisement
For generations, people have gathered at harvest and created with what the land had grown. This Harvest Moon, we’re bringing a little of that tradition into our own gathering.
We’ll begin our evening in circle, slowing down and connecting with gratitude before exploring some of the history and folklore behind creating with wheat at harvest.
We’ll hear about traditions from parts of Europe, the stories and beliefs that grew around them, and how straw weaving eventually travelled with immigrants to the Canadian Prairies.
Then we’ll gather around the table with locally grown wheat and create our own Harvest Blessings.
Inspired by traditional wheat tokens, each Harvest Blessing will be a little different, not only in how it looks, but in what it means.
You may make yours as a blessing for your home or family. You may have someone in mind you want to give it to. It may carry an intention of abundance, protection, love or good fortune. Or its meaning may simply come to you as you create.
There is no right meaning to give it. That part belongs to you.
We’ll have music while we create, with time to visit, laugh and simply enjoy being around the table together.
No crafting experience is needed. All materials, tea and a light snack are included.
Spaces are intentionally limited to keep our circle intimate and connected.
