Former students of Professor Harry Sargous will perform in honor of this prestigious artist and pedagogue who passed away in May of 2025. Sargous was former Principal Oboist of the Toronto Symphony (1971-1982), and joined the faculty at the University of Michigan in 1982. Harry was an internationally acclaimed musician whose career spanned continents and decades. The recital will feature works that he commissioned, recorded and performed, including the Schumann Romances, Dialogues by Leslie Bassett, works of Bach and Hindemith, a newly commissioned piece for this event by Lavinia Kell Parker, and Graceful Ghost Rag by William Bolcom. Honoring Harry’s creative talent as a photographer, a collection of his art photos will be on display with an opportunity to purchase notecards and prints, proceeds going to a scholarship fund in his honor at Music Academy of the West.
