Harrison County Property Owners Invited to Tax Productivity Seminar
The Harrison County AgriLife Extension Office and the Harrison County Appraisal District are pleased to invite local property owners to the Harrison County Property Tax Productivity Seminar on March 22, 2025. This informative event will be held at the Harrison County AgriLife Extension Office, located at 2005 Warren Drive, Marshall, TX.
Registration is free and will begin at 8:30 AM, accompanied by coffee and doughnuts. To help with refreshments, attendees are encouraged to RSVP by calling 903-935-8413.
The seminar will officially begin at 9:00 AM with a welcome and introductions by Lee Flowers, Chief Appraiser for the Harrison County Appraisal District. The program will feature expert presentations on key property tax productivity topics:
• Timber Management Plans for the Forest Landowner – Presented by Jacob Wallace, District Forester, Texas A&M Forest Service, with assistance from Lee Flowers and members of the HCAD Team.
• The Importance of Wildlife Food Plots, Bees, Birds, and Butterflies – Presented by Penny D. Wilkerson, District Wildlife Biologist, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and covering the Pastures for Upland Game Birds Program.
The seminar will conclude at noon, after which attendees will have the opportunity to engage in one-on-one discussions with members of the HCAD Team regarding their specific property situations.
This program is specifically designed for landowners interested in qualifying for productivity appraisals related to Timber, Agricultural Use, Wildlife, and Bees. Presenters will provide essential information on requirements and application processes for obtaining or maintaining a current property valuation.
With the April 30th deadline approaching for property tax valuation applications, this seminar provides a valuable opportunity to gain expert guidance and ensure compliance with necessary qualifications.
