Stephanie Harpe and Maria Dunn wrote a song together in Summer 2020 called "Strong the River Flows", inspired by Stephanie's words, images and work as a member of the Fort McKay First Nation and a grassroots activist for Murdered or Missing and Exploited Indigenous People (MMEIP).We are officially releasing the single/video with a community event:

Program will include:
- Screening of Video: Strong the River Flows
- Harpe & Dunn and filmmaker/editor Kalli Elder will perform a short set of music followed by a panel sharing their respective stories on the songwriting collaboration, making of the video, and how we move forward together as Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.
We will also be honouring the memory of trailblazing Métis singer, songwriter and mentor Laura Vinson and talking about her invaluable role as producer in arranging our song, singing backup vocals with us, and appearing briefly in the video. We recorded the song and filmed some of the video at Laura and her husband Dave Martineau's studio on their beautiful land in Brule in October 2023.
All are welcome.
Alcohol-free event. Light refreshments.
Outdoor, weather-permitting. If needed, we'll move indoors.
Bench seating & chairs for 50 people, but you are also welcome to bring your own lawnchair.
Free. Donations welcome.
Please RSVP if you are planning to attend so we have enough refreshments and seating prepared.
