Harp and Piano Concert
The annual summer concert at St. Elizabeth's for 2026 will feature harpist Rachel O'Brien and pianist Erica Ann Sipes.
O'Brien is professor of harp at the Virginia Tech School of Performing Arts and has performed as a concert soloist with the Houston Symphony Orchestra and as a guest orchestral harpist with the Cleveland Symphony and Roanoke Symphony Orchestra. She has students around the world. At St. Elizabeth's, she will perform Ravel's "Introduction et Allegro" (a miniature harp concerto) and Debussy's "The Girl With Flaxen Hair."
Sipes is a regular pianist for Opera Roanoke, the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, and the Roanoke Symphony Chorus, and has performed around the world, including accompanying choirs in Prague and St. Petersburg. At St. Elizabeth's she will perform Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" and will also accompany O'Brien.
Special guest TJ Anderson returns to St. Elizabeth's to present jazz poetry. Anderson, a professor of English at Hollins University, sings and recites original jazz-influenced verse accompanied by free-flowing live music by Harvey Murdoch.
The emcee is St. Elizabeth's music director Randy Walker who will also present his poem "Love In The City of Statues."
St. Elizabeth's is located at 2339 Grandin Road, Roanoke. The concert starts at 6:30 pm and will be followed by a reception. A donation of $15 is suggested, but any amount will be gratefully accepted.
