A special commemorative concert at St. Paul's German Evangelical Lutheran Church, New York City
Join us for an exceptional evening celebrating the 185th anniversary of the birth of Antonín Dvořák (1841–1904), one of the greatest composers in Czech history and one of the most influential musical figures of the Romantic era.
The concert will take place on September 28, 2026, at the historic German Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Paul in New York City, where Dvořák's remarkable artistic legacy and his close cultural ties to both the Czech Republic and Germany will be celebrated through music.
During his years in the United States, Antonín Dvořák left an extraordinary mark on American musical life. At the same time, his international career was strongly connected with the German cultural world through the support of Johannes Brahms, the Berlin publisher Fritz Simrock, and numerous performances of his works throughout Germany.
The evening's program will feature masterpieces by Antonín Dvořák together with selected works by Johannes Brahms, highlighting the artistic friendship and mutual respect between these two great composers.
The event is held under the patronage of the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York and the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in New York, in cooperation with the Dvořák American Heritage Association (DAHA) and the St. Paul's German Evangelical Lutheran Church, New York City.
Performers
Martin Vydra – Baritone (Czech Republic)
Martin Vydra is one of the leading young Czech baritones. He has performed throughout Europe, the United States, Brazil, and Japan, appearing with renowned orchestras and ensembles. His recent international engagements include performances at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York, the West Point Cadet Chapel, concerts with the Brazilian National Orchestra, and representing the Czech Republic at EXPO 2025 Osaka.
Lukáš Dvořák – Organist (Czech Republic)
Award-winning organist Lukáš Dvořák is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. A laureate of several international competitions, he has performed across Europe and the United States and has collaborated with distinguished musicians including Joseph Alessi, principal trombonist of the New York Philharmonic. He previously served as chief organist during the Czech National Pilgrimage in the Vatican.
Tereza Horáková – Violin (Czech Republic)
Tereza Horáková is a Czech violinist who has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at numerous concerts in the Czech Republic and abroad. She has collaborated with leading orchestras and ensembles and regularly appears at international music festivals. Her repertoire spans from Baroque to contemporary music, with a particular focus on Czech composers. Her performances are praised for their musical sensitivity, technical excellence, and expressive interpretation.
