Harmony Beyond Borders is a Fusion and Unique Cultural celebration that showcases the power of music to connect people across nations, traditions, and communities. Through the expressive voice of the Guzheng, one of China's most treasured traditional instruments, this special performance invites audiences on a journey of heritage, storytelling, and cultural exchange.The evening features acclaimed Guzheng artist Wei Deng, a Global Talent Visa holder, member of the Musician's Union UK, and International Ambassador for the Global Promotion of Chinese Guzheng Art. Holding a Master's degree in Arts Management from Queen's University Belfast and certified by the Central Conservatory of Music, China, Wei has performed across China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Northern Ireland, promoting intercultural understanding through music.

The programme includes "Yù" (pronounced "yoo"), an original Guzheng composition inspired by Chinese artefacts and collections housed within National Museums NI. Drawing upon historical connections between East and West, the piece explores themes of memory, identity, and cultural heritage. Through delicate melodies and evocative musical textures, Wei transforms museum collections into a living artistic experience, allowing history to resonate through sound.

Audiences will also experience another original work inspired by Wei's visit to Rathlin Island, Northern Ireland's northernmost inhabited island. Capturing the beauty of its rugged coastline, changing seas, abundant wildlife, and sense of tranquillity, the composition reflects a personal journey of discovery and connection with the natural landscape. Through the expressive capabilities of the Guzheng, the music paints vivid scenes of the island's atmosphere and spirit.

Dedicated to the preservation and sustainable development of traditional music, Wei believes that music transcends language, nationality, and cultural boundaries. Her work helps build cultural understanding, fosters inclusion, and celebrates the diversity that enriches modern society.
