About this Event
This training is for staff of all levels and experience who work in programs such as Housing First and other Harm Reduction models.
This workshop will review the HRM (harm reduction model) and provide attendees with an understanding of how this model incorporates a spectrum of intervention strategies from safer use, to managed use to abstinence.
Participants will gain an understanding about how and why this approach aims to meet each client where they are in their stage of change, addressing conditions of not only the drug use but other dimensions of the individual client's life, in order to work with each client in a holistic, strength-based and client-centered way.
Participants are encouraged to come to this workshop with actual cases/client situations in mind, as we will work through case plans and break down barriers to assist participants with their approach with challenging cases and issues that may arise.
Participants will leave this workshop with a better understanding of the stages of change, the HRM, strength-based interventions, and how the HRM is not "permission to use" but rather that it is a model where positive changes are indeed expected.
A certificate of completion will be provided to all participants that complete the session. The certificate can be used to apply for CEUs for various disciples such as social work, peer certification and more.
Coffee, juice, muffins and pastries will be served starting at 9:00am.
