For the third year, HARD Law is hosting a Harm Reduction Community Night! It's an event to bring together all people who care about harm reduction and a more compassionate world for people who use drugs. We hope that spending an evening together will make the fight just a little bit easier.If we have not met - Hi! We are UVic HARD Law (Harm Reduction and Decriminalization Law club). We are law students, but many of us also identify as drug users, former users, frontline workers, and activists. We are committed to using our legal education to dismantle the war on drugs, in whatever ways we can.
The event will be on Thursday March 28th at 6pm at the Cool Aid Downtown Community Centre (755 Pandora). We will be sure to have food, beverages, and seating available. If you have any other suggestions for the structure and/or accessibility of the event, please feel free to get in touch.
Frontline harm reduction workers are our special guests. We invite everyone involved in frontline and drug user-led work to prepare a few words (around 5 minutes) about what you’ve been up to lately.
We have also been thinking a lot about art as a form of movement-building and protest. If you are a harm reductionist-artist who would be comfortable saying a few words about your art or sharing it at the event, we would love that! All forms of art are welcome.
