About this Event
Join us for the opening reception of *Harlem’s Influence*, a solo exhibition by DaQuane Cherry at Artfullwalls Gallery. This vibrant collection draws upon Cherry’s transformative years in Harlem—celebrating how the neighborhood’s rhythms, colors, and cultural energy shaped his art and continue to resonate across the world.
Explore Cherry’s signature acrylic texture paintings, where storytelling, imagination, and childhood wonder come alive. Central to his work is the whimsical teddy bear motif—with its white form, bold red snout, and blue and yellow ears—that serves as an emblem of creativity’s foundation, using primary colors to remind us that without color, there is only black and white. Through these pieces, Cherry invites you to blend reality with fantasy, to see the echoes of Harlem’s musical and visual language in every brushstroke.
The evening will be a chance to immerse yourself in art, engage with the artist, enjoy light refreshments, and connect with fellow lovers of creativity. Whether you’re long inspired by Harlem or new to its stories, this exhibition offers something vivid, joyful, and deeply rooted in place.

Who is DaQuane Cherry?
DaQuane Cherry was born in Elizabeth City North Carolina. In his earlier life, he has battled from a copious amounts of turmoil. causing him to practically have to raise himself since the age of 15. Cherry moved to NYC at the age of 19 and there his development of creativity would flourish.
DaQuane is a self taught artist as his medium focal point is acrylic texture painting. Storytelling would grow to be his main attraction through the likes of his branding of his teddy bear paintings.
DaQuane reference the teddy bear as an escape for everyone to their inner childhood and fantasizing the ways of imagination and innovation in which a child does effortlessly. The colors of the white bear, and bold red snout with black nose, accompanied with blue and yellow ears represent the foundation of art as they are the primary colors; and without, would leave the world black and white. The idea is for the audience to envision a life where reality blends with imagination.
