Hard Hat Heroes
Coloring Book Release Party
Join Shipyard Artists Stacey Carter and William Rhodes and color large scale pages of their book based on Black Shipyard Labor History
Come celebrate the release of our new coloring book based on the African-American Shipyard History Quilt Project! The pages illustrate different jobs once held by African-American workers at the shipyard, each paired with a historic photo and a fun coloring activity. At the opening reception, we’ll have giant versions of the coloring pages taped to the gallery walls so guests can color together. Children are welcome to attend!
Music, refreshments, and original artwork inspired by Black labor will also be part of the evening. Stacey Carter and William Rhodes, will be present along with our three artists in residence, who helped curate and contributed to the show.
