What is Opera? Does it involve a Phantom? A woman with a helmet on her head? Bugs Bunny?Join Kathleen Foulkrod and HappyPlace Productions as they give a bit of background about Opera and present a world premiere, composed by beloved music teacher Andrew Henderson. Andrew taught at Monroe Public Schools for 19 years and was known for his use of puppets and composition with his music and drama students. According to Andrew who gifted Bavarian Blizzard to HappyPlace Productions, this is sure to be his last major work. He makes this educational introduction to Opera relatable to children and adults alike. Please join us for a bit of background about Opera at a child's level and then the performance of Bavarian Blizzard, a comic Opera in Five scenes.
Busha's cupboards are bare, there's a blizzard outside and the kitchen is being overrun by rats! Will the Master of the House be able to save the day? And what of the poor child in their care? Come and wrap up the holiday season with your favorite kid and be a part of this world premiere here in the city where Andrew shared his love of music with so many!
