Join us for this monthly Happy Hour event by Marisa Balistreri Trio!Madison-based Marisa Balistreri Trio features vocalist and former professional opera singer Marisa Balistreri with Dr. Stefan Hall, composer and PhD in Medieval English Literature on guitar, and the special guest James Devor on bass.
They play original folk-jazz tunes by Stefan plus straight ahead
jazz, French chansons and Latin jazz covers.

Marisa Balistreri is a Madison-based vocalist. A former professional Italian opera singer with an international career, Marisa currently collaborates with her songwriter-guitarist husband, Stefan Hall, on original folk-jazz tunes inspired by music from around the world and in several languages.
Guitarist and composer Stefan Hall received his MA and PhD from St. Louis University in Medieval Language and Literature. Since the early 1990s, Stefan has gigged steadily both as a solo guitarist and in various jazz, Latin jazz, jazz Manouche, blues, and folk ensembles.

James Devor received a dual Bachelor of Music degree in music theory & composition and music education: instrumental performance from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, studying double bass with Peter Paulsen and composition with Robert Maggio. He completed his Master of Music in music composition at The Hartt School – University of Hartford, studying composition with Keen Steen and Robert Carl and double bass with Robert Black. James has also studied privately with composers Libby Larsen and Daron Hagen, and has most recently received his Artist Diploma from OAcademy as a 2024 cohort member of the Gabriela Ortiz Composing Studio.
