NHCC invites adults for artistic fun in a relaxed social setting. This is a great opportunity for friends to hang out, a unique date night option, or a place to come solo and connect with fellow art enthusiasts. Drinks and snacks will be available to purchase.
Join us for a festive night of art on December 4, 2025 where we will be learning how to do straw appliqué with renowned artist Martha Ewing.
Martha Varoz Ewing is a traditional Straw Applique and Tin Artist and is a native of Santa Fe, New Mexico. She feels she has found her passion in creating religious art in various forms and is inspired to create her work by the influence of her family’s artistic background and her strong religious upbringing. Her signature is a combination of straw and tin as she feels they complement one another. The two elements are known as Poor Man’s Silver and Poor Man’s Gold. She gathers her wheat from her brother’s wheat fields in Colorado.
Her art is found in numerous private collections and museums which include the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Renwick Gallery, Denver Art Museum, Denver Museum of Nature & Science, Museum of Spanish Colonial Arts, EXPO NM Permanent Collection, Colorado Fine Arts Taylor Museum, Colorado Springs, The Vatican in Rome and in the private collection of the Royal King and Queen of Spain.
