Members of the public, alumni, staff and students are warmly invited to join us in The Pā at the University of Waikato in Hamilton on Thurs, 18 July for an evening of discussion with Professor John Oetzel and Assoc. Professor Mary Simpson.
For more than 10 years, Mary and John have partnered with kaupapa Māori community organisations to work on a range of research projects related to health, housing and wellbeing.

Using two current projects as case studies, Mary and John will discuss the complex problem of a disproportionate burden of NZ's ageing population falling on Māori communities.
John's research involves forming partnerships with communities to co-design and co-deliver health interventions developed through participatory methods.
Mary uses her knowledge and experience in the field of ageing and wellbeing to promote the health, independence and well-being of older people, and to address health inequities experienced by Māori kaumātua.
