Hank, Pattie, and The Current
Here’s a snapshot of what you can expect: Hank, Pattie & The Current is a genre-blending ensemble rooted in the meeting point of classical string tradition and American folk music. Led by violinist/fiddler Pattie Kinlaw and banjoist Hank Smith, the group delivers high-energy performances that weave together storytelling, improvisation, and rich acoustic textures. With a sound that moves seamlessly from concert hall to front porch, they craft a soulful, genre-defying sound with rich harmonies, innovative arrangements, and impassioned performances.
It really is a fantastic experience to hear them perform their unique fusion of classical and bluegrass– it is at such a high level, both technically and musically. I thoroughly enjoy their work and feel sure you will, too.
The concert will also feature their bassist, Stevie Martinez, and guitarist, Cassidy Beentjes. I will be joining them as a violinist, along with Elizabeth Ivy Wilson (violin), Gabriella Potter (viola), and Zack May (cello).
The afternoon will begin with refreshments, then move inside for the musical program. During intermission, we'll take a break for refreshments, wine tasting, and socializing. Full concert details can be found below my signature.
This is a wonderful concert to bring friends to, as the music is highly accessible and just plain fun in addition to being clever and innovative. I encourage you to invite folks you might not otherwise bring to a classical music concert.
