Hands-On: Introduction to Coding with Python

About this Event
The terms “most-popular” and “fastest-growing” can be hard to define precisely, but many, including Stack Overflow and the Tiobe Index, make the case that Python owns both attributes. As a beginner, start with Python because it is easy to learn and a powerful tool for building web applications or simple automation. As a professional, leverage extensive APIs to create high-value solutions with minimal effort.
Join this Hands-On session to learn the basics of Python development. You learn by doing, creating simple control code for the Raspberry Pi-based IoT Greenhouse. Basic coding and tools are introduced, and follow-up tccodes events will investigate even more. For introductory workshops, system hardware and software are provided to each participant. Session size is limited, and you must register in advance to reserve a workstation.
The workshop is presented by Keith E. Kelly and hosted by the Traverse Area District Library as part of the tccodes talent development initiative. It is intended for beginners or anyone interested in coding or the Raspberry Pi. This is an entry-level experience. No prior experience with computer programming is required. Keith will also be available after the workshop to discuss career opportunities and pathways to becoming a software professional.
