On Saturday, October 25th the Augusta Museum of History will host another Hands On History Workshop, this time with a focus Historic Portraits. AMH Director of Education Krystal Lyon will lead you on a brief tour of portraits in the AMH Collection and the stories behind them. We will also discuss Dia de Los Muertos and the important role that images and portraits play in the Ofrenda. The AMH will have an Ofrenda in the Museum Rotunda from October 30th-November 2nd.The majority of the Workshop will be spent with local artist AC Daniel who will teach you techniques to create your own portrait drawn with charcoal and pastels. (You will need to bring in photo references of yourself or a loved one that you would like to draw. If you do not have one the Museum will provide you with a copy of one from the collection.)
The cost of the workshop is just $30.00 and includes all supplies and you will have paper and charcoal to take home with you to continue your practice, plus entrance into the Museum after the workshop. This workshop is open to adults (17 and older) and is a perfect activity for a pair of friends or maybe a first date.
